Allied Health · AI Governance

AI risk management for
allied health Australia.

Clinicians and admin staff are using AI tools that access patient notes, treatment records, and sensitive health information. AHPRA, APP 3, and My Health Record obligations don't allow for ungoverned AI. Govara makes compliance achievable before December 2026.

Where allied health practices
face their greatest AI exposure

Sensitive patient data in AI tools
Clinicians use AI for note summarisation, treatment planning, and referral drafting — often using US-hosted tools with no data sovereignty. Under APP 3 and the Privacy Act, sensitive health information requires heightened protection that most AI tools don't provide.
AHPRA conduct obligations
AHPRA codes of conduct require practitioners to maintain clinical oversight when using AI in decision support. Without a documented AI governance framework, using AI diagnostic or documentation tools is a professional conduct risk as well as a privacy risk.
No APP-compliant patient disclosure
Your practice's privacy policy must disclose how AI handles patient personal and health information. From December 2026, APP 1.7 enforcement begins — and most practice privacy policies were written before AI tools existed in clinical settings.

Three modules for allied
health AI governance

1
AI Tool Inventory
Discover every AI tool used across your practice group — clinical documentation, AI scribes, scheduling, billing, and admin tools. Builds a live register with data types (including sensitive health information) and risk exposure per clinic and role. The foundation of any allied health AI risk assessment in Australia.
2
Policy & Disclosure Pack
Generate an AI acceptable use policy tailored to allied health obligations — including AHPRA codes, APP 3 sensitive information rules, and My Health Record Act requirements. Includes APP 1.7–1.9 compliant patient privacy disclosure updates and AI vendor risk assessment templates for each clinical and admin tool.
3
Audit Evidence & Trust Centre
Immutable audit log of AI governance activity — policy reviews, staff training completions, vendor risk assessments, and incident records. Export for AHPRA response, OAIC inquiry, or PI insurer requests. Demonstrate to patients and referrers that you govern AI with the same rigour as clinical care.

The regulations your
practice group must meet

AHPRA codes of conduct — professional obligations when using AI in clinical documentation and decision support
Privacy Act 1988 / APP 3 — heightened obligations for collection and handling of sensitive health information
Privacy Act 1988 / APP 11 — security of patient personal and health information processed by AI tools
My Health Record Act 2012 — obligations when AI tools access or process My Health Record data
APP 1.7 — disclosure of AI data handling in patient-facing privacy policies from December 2026
State health records legislation — additional obligations in VIC, NSW, QLD, and WA for health information
Two-week assessment.
